Shirley Ann Jones  |1935-2022| 

Shirley Ann Jones, 87, of McPherson, passed away at 2:30 a.m., Friday, June 24th, 2022 while in the company of family, at her home.

Shirley was born in Colby, on March 14, 1935, a daughter of Theresa (white) and Joseph Andrew Laurent.

Shirley attended the Colby grade school, and graduated from Colby High School, Colby, Kansas.

Shirley Ann Laurent was united in marriage to Earl Vincent Duncan on September 26, 1952 at Colby. The young couple established their first home together in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They were blessed with the birth of seven children, Brenda, Sandra, Gordon, Terri, David, Tammie, and Rebecca.
Shirley was united in marriage to Earl Lee Jones on March 16, 1985 at McPherson. This union brought four more children into the fold, Linda, Chris, Patti, and Tammi.

Shirley was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked at Lee's IGA and later at Farmers Alliance Insurance Company in the mail room both of McPherson and the Olathe School District working in the Central Kitchen.

Shirley was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 153 in Olathe and volunteered for Bluebirds and Campfire Girls. Shirley enjoyed camping, dancing, bowling, gardening in her vegetable and flower gardens, watching old westerns and spending time with her family especially her grandkids.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Dietrich, of Topeka, Kansas, Sandy Headley and husband Steve, of Uniontown, Terri Schrag, and husband Don, of McPherson, Dave Duncan and wife Jodi, of Lindsborg, Tammie Eichinger and husband Steve, of Olathe, and Becky Longfellow, of Lenexa; her stepchildren, Debbie Jones, of Olathe, Patti Bagley, and husband Don, of Olathe, and Tammi Cooley, of Olathe; her sister, Maxine Bohn and husband Delbert, of McPherson; her 23 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren with one on the way!; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl Jones, son, Gordon Duncan, a brother, Donald Laurent; a step-daughter, Linda Scahill and a step-son, Chris Jones; and a son-in-law Gerald Dietrich.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Glidden - Ediger Chapel in McPherson, Kansas.

The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, July 1st 2022 at Glidden - Ediger Chapel in McPherson, with Pastor Darrell Cooper officiating.

Burial will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.
