BOX SCORE

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Kyrell Shaw delivered 26 points and Chudier Dorar provided a steady interior presence with a career-high 20 more as Hutchinson Community College earned a 75-62 win over Cloud County on Saturday, sending the Blue Dragons into the break with back-to-back victories.

Hutchinson improved to 9-5 overall and 4-4 in Jayhawk Conference play after controlling long stretches on both ends, building an early cushion and then leaning on defense and rim pressure to keep the T-Birds at arm’s length.

The Blue Dragons led 38-29 at halftime after turning a tight start into separation with a flurry of 3s and transition baskets. Shaw buried three triples in a span of about six minutes in the first half, and Hutchinson’s second-unit spark came quickly when Dorar checked in and threw down back-to-back dunks off feeds from Shaw and Kordell Williams.

Hutchinson opened the second half with the same edge, scoring on its first two possessions and pushing the margin to 43-29 on Shaw’s 3-pointer. The lead grew to 17 at 46-31 after Bobby Cannon hit a 3, and Hutchinson repeatedly answered when Cloud County tried to chip away, including a sequence late in the half when the T-Birds pulled within 64-54 before Shaw converted a layup and Hutchinson closed at the line.

Lolo Rudolph finished with nine points and 10 assists for Hutchinson, while Anthony Alston added 12 points and Dorar went 9 of 10 from the field. Hutchinson shot 51.7% overall (31 of 60) and finished with 26 assists on 31 made baskets.

Cloud County was held to a season-low in total points scored in the loss. The T-Birds shot 2 of 17 from 3-point range and 38.8% shooting. Manasseh Stackhouse led the T-Birds with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and DJ Holloway scored 15.
