🏀 No. 1 HutchCC dominates Colby in Sports Arena

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The No. 1 ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team opened up a big first half lead and never looked back in a 75-37 win over Colby on Tuesday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons led 22-9 after the first quarter, but that lead would grow exponentially in the second quarter. 

Colby scored the first two points of the period, but Hutchinson scored the final 19 points in the quarter to lead 41-11 at halftime.

Hailey Jackson led the way once again for the Blue Dragons, finishing with 24 points and 14 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season and seventh of her career. The 14 rebounds ties her career-high. Jackson knocked down all 10 of her free throw attempts in the win.

Katie Duncan finished with a career-high 12 points, knocking down three three-point field goals. Landon Forbes and Dylan Alexander each had 10 points.

Hutchinson (9-0, 3-0 KJCCC) knocked down a season-high 11 three-point shots. HutchCC finished 16 of 19 at the foul stripe.

Colby (6-3, 1-2) was led by Jera Kruleski with eight points. The Trojans turned the ball over 23 times in the loss.

Hutchinson has now won 46 consecutive games overall, and 31 straight Jayhawk Conference games.

The Blue Dragons will travel to Independence on Saturday to face the Pirates. Tipoff time is 2 p.m. from the ICC Fieldhouse. The game can be heard on KHUT-FM (102.9) and KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) with pregame coverage starting at 1:45 p.m.
