⚽ Seven different Dragons score in win over Conqs

Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team completed its suspended game with Dodge City Friday night, scoring five more goals after the game was resumed at the Salthawk Soccer Complex.

Originally started on September 17 and suspended by lightning, the Blue Dragons completed an 8-1 Jayhawk Conference victory over the Conquistadors.

The Blue Dragons improved to 8-2-2 overall and 4-2-2 (14 points) in the Jayhawk Conference. Dodge City is 6-5 overall and 4-5 in the KJCCC. The Blue Dragons and Conquistadors will play again at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City.

Olivia Tamaki wound up with a four-point game with two goals and an assist. Isabela PuccinelliOnna Dowling Perdomo and Bessie Simpson each had a goal and an assist for three-point games. Anastasia Pokrandt had two assists.

Swearingen, Dowling and Simpson all scored their first goals of the season.

Poppy Smith and Isabell Van Fleet also scored goals as seven different Hutchinson players had goals in the game.

Freshman goalkeeper Rylee Loague entered the game at the point of resumption and made two saves.

The Blue Dragons out-shot Dodge City 23-4.

The Dragons had a 3-1 lead at the point of suspension on September 17. Dodge City scored the first goal, but Tamaki scored two goals and Puccinelli had the third.

Three minutes into the resumption of the first half, Tamaki played a perfect through ball to Smith, who worked to the left side of the goal and scored from 15 yards out for a 5-1 lead with 7:50 remaining in the half.

Just one minute into the second half, Swearingen intercepted a deflected Dodge City pass then launched a high-arching shot over the head over the Dodge City keeper for a 5-1 lead.

The Dragons made it 7-1 in the 67th minute when Pokrandt's free kick was ripped into the goal from 25 yards out on a blistering shot by Dowling-Perdomo.

One minute, 3 seconds later, Dowling-Perdomo fed Van Fleet, who scored for an 8-1 lead.

Then in the 75th minute, Simpson lobbed a free kick from the left side into the upper right corner of the goal for an 8-1 Blue Dragon lead.

The Dragons are now 33-1 all-time against Dodge City with 32 consecutive victories.
