Jean Regier |1936-2021|

  Jean Regier, 85, of McPherson, passed away at 1:55 a.m., Saturday, October 2nd, peacefully, at Heartland Haven, Inman.

Jean was born in Larned, on July 26, 1936, a daughter of Naomi Valentine (Thorp) and Charles Edward Bartley.

Jean attended the Great Bend grade schools and graduated from Great Bend High School, Great Bend. She then attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and she received her Degree in Education.

Jean Bartley was united in marriage to Jerome K. Regier on June 12, 1960 at Great Bend. The young couple established their first home together in Moses Lake, Washington while Jerome was in the Air Force. Following Jerome's discharge they then moved to McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons, Rick and Bart. Jerome died on June 26, 2014.

Jean was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. After the boys were in school, she was a substitute teacher in McPherson County, was an assistant to her husband Jerome, and office manager at Countryside Animal Clinic. After they sold the clinic, she worked partime for McPherson College and Dillon's.

Jean loved her pets with a special passion and she shared that with her kids and grandkids. She loved tailgating at all the K-State games, and cheering on the wildcats! She also had a love for cooking and fixed Sunday dinners almost every week! Her specialty was fried chicken!

She is survived by her sons, Rick Regier and wife Michelle, of McPherson, and Bart Regier and wife Laura, of McPherson; her six grandchildren, Brandon Schmidt and wife Tiffany, Kale Regier, Dylan Schmidt and wife Danielle, Mariah Regier, Cheyenne Regier, and Ross Regier; her seven great-grandchildren, Makayla Schmidt, Madison Schmidt, Jacob Schmidt, Evan Schmidt, Brexton Schmidt, Thea Schmidt, and Gavin Schmidt; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Valentine Bartley; her husband of over 54 years, Jerome Regier; her brothers, James Bartley and Lawrence "Bill" Bartley and her sister, Elizabeth Erwin.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday, October 8th, 2021 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson.

Private family graveside will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson.
