Roberta ‘Joan’ Ehling, 90, passed away December 23, 2021, at her home. She was born July 2, 1931, in Stafford, to John Henry and Ethel Edna (Meiries) Kueck.
Joan was a 1949 graduate of Sylvia High School, Sylvia, and Adela Hale Business College, Hutchinson. She was employed as a salesperson by World Book Encyclopedia, and bookkeeper at Central State Bank, Central Livestock, and Wheatbelt Girl Scouts.
Joan was a volunteer at Reins of Hope and Cosmosphere International Science Education Center & Space Museum. (formerly the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center). She was a member of the Hutchinson Sweet Adelines, Abbyville Booster Club, Abbyville Community Church and First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On May 29, 1952, Joan married Richard Ehling. They shared over 65 years of marriage, prior to his death on November 18, 2017.
She is survived by: her daughters, Melynn (Steve) Cannon of Hutchinson, and Sandra Hill of Rudy, AR; grandchildren, Leisha (Kyle) Hughey of North Platte, NE, Steven (Kyly) Cannon of Abbyville, Caleb (Dannah) Hill of Rudy, AR, James Hill (fiancé, Lindsey) of Rudy, AR, and Nikki (Amos) Pauley of South Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Kole, Hadleigh, Hayleigh, Hatcher, Levi, and Wyatt; and sister, Jeanette Marks of Sylvia.
Joan was preceded in death by: her parents; and siblings, infant Wanda, Lloyd Kueck, and Vi Green.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary, with Pastor Keith Dellenbach officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
