

Vernon Richard Swank, 83, of Hutchinson, died Jan. 4, 2021, at Hospice House. He was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Hutchinson, to Ray and Emla (Parker) Swank.
Vernon attended Buhler High and Hutchinson Community College. He was the head of maintenance at PMS Foods for 32 years. Vernon served as a reserve police officer in Hutchinson and South Hutchinson from 1960-1976 and was a Korean War Veteran. Vernon was always telling someone about Jesus. He was a former member of Full Gospel Assembly in Hutchinson.
On June 19, 1956, Vernon married Marciel Edwina Benbrook, in Hutchinson. She passed away December 11, 2004.
He is survived by daughters, Verna Case, South Hutchinson, Phyllis Swank, Hutchinson; sisters, Ruth Muth, Colorado, Elizabeth Gordon, Hutchinson; five grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan.9, 2021, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Kansas Army National Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
