Wind Surge win Tuesday

Wichita, KS- The Wichita Wind Surge defeated the San Antonio Missions 9-2 in the series opener on Tuesday night behind twelve hits and two home runs from Matt Wallner.

Sawyer Gipson-Long got his second start on the hill for the Wind Surge and pitched five innings and allowed two runs on six hits and tallied three strikeouts to earn his first win in Wichita.

Matt Wallner tied the game 1-1 as he hit a solo homer in the first inning. Wallner finished the night three for five with four RBIs and two home runs, including an RBI-single in the third inning that gave Wichita a 2-1 lead. Edouard Julien and Anthony Prato added to the tally as they each had a pair of hits and combined for two RBIs in the ballgame.

The Surge broke the game open in the fifth inning as Edouard Julien hit an RBI-single to score Leobaldo Cabrera. Cole Sturgeon followed with a three-run homer to give Wichita a commanding 7-2 lead. Sturgeon went one for four with three RBIs on the night.

First pitch on Wednesday is at 7:05 p.m.
