Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the northwest corner of East 4th and Pleasant.
This little building at 1228 E. 4th has always been a fast-food restaurant.
Built in 1959 by Bruce and Galen Pinkerton, the building started as a Tasty Freeze franchise.
In 1963, it was Mac's Tasty Freeze by Stewart & Lucille McCreight.
In 1968, Earl Hoelabaugh reopened it as a respelled Tastee-Freez. The first photo shows that change of ownership.
In 1975, it became Lees Drive-In, owned by Esther Lees.
In 1981, it was Big Bertha's Drive-In, owned by Vicky Wallerius.
From 1982 to 1994, it was the B&D Carry Out East, owned by Ralph Noys Jr.
In 1994, Shad Byard bought the property and named it Oliver's Carryout. That continued until 2014 when Connie Carithers started Connie's IDK Eatery there. The second photo shows that ownership.
In 2018, the building was reopened as a Dough Co. Donuts franchise. The third photo shows that on opening day.
The fourth photo shows the 1228 E. 4th building today, now repainted in pink, now called the Hutch Donut by Dough Co. owned by Ana Kann L.L.C. Dough Co's home base is out of Dover, Ohio.
