Nina F. Smith |1926-2022|

Nina F. Smith, formerly of Hugoton, 95, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Wesley Towers, Hutchinson.

She was born March 10, 1926 in Moscow, the daughter of James Elliot and Mary Ann (Dickson) Wright.  She graduated Moscow High School, Moscow, and attended Dodge City Community College, Dodge City.  She received her nurses training from the Nuns of St. Francis associated with the Army Nurse Corps and worked as a Registered Nurse for many hospitals in the South West region of Kansas. She also worked for Dr. Charles Harper as a Dental Assistant in Hugoton.  Nina and her friends enjoyed going to dances.  At one of those dances she met Myrle Smith.  On July 3, 1951 she married Myrle Gordon Smith in Kinsley, KS.  Nina was a member of the First Christian Church, Hugoton, KS and attended Grace Bible Church, Hutchinson.  Nina and Myrle enjoyed square dancing and she was an avid doll collector. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Myrle; a brother, James E. Wright; and three sisters, MaryBelle Thomson, Lois Faye DeWitt and Nelle Wright-Fox.

Nina is survived by two sons, Carl Dean Smith and wife, Brenda of Hutchinson, and Kevin W. Smith and wife, Diana of Dumas, TX; a daughter, Linda D. Brown and husband John of Thornton, CO; a brother, Jerry L. Wright and wife Regina of Lubbock, TX;  four grandchildren, Keely D. Smith, Casey L. Smith and wife, Nikki, Amy D. Moore and Cori L. Guevara and husband Fernando; six great grandchildren, Camren, Kaden and Carter Smith, Dylan Moore, Sidney and Mia Guevara; and two great-great grandchildren, Maddy and Sophia Guevara.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton.  Visitation will be held from 1-7 p.m. with family greeting guests from 5-7 p.m., on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave, Hutchinson.
