HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Returning Hutchinson City Council member Sara Bagwell wants to sit down with the new members of the council to figure out what direction the new body will go.

"I think we really need to sit down with each other and figure out what we want to focus on," Bagwell said. "Kind of get a consensus between the new council. I think we need to set a series of special study sessions to really get down into what changes Hutchinson needs to position itself for a better future.

One priority for Bagwell is sidewalk improvements.

"That's a priority for me," Bagwell said. "I don't know if the other council members feel the same. I would hope so. We have that master plan. It does include sidewalks. I believe that we really do need to focus on our current infrastructure and making that better and restoring that and putting in the appropriate funds, and of course, the $3.5 million for the roads. I'm just going to try to educate with some of the numbers and some of the findings that I have to the new council members to see if we can all get on the same page. At least, that's what my hope is."

The canvass of the election results is November 9.
