Cancer Council of Reno County Presents Starlight October 10th

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Cancer Council of Reno County invites residents to an evening of recognizing and remembering those who have fought or are fighting cancer. Starlight will take place Sunday, October 10th at Avenue A Park in Downtown Hutchinson at 6:30 p.m.

Attendees can decorate a memorial boat and honor loved ones by candlelight as the boats sail through the water. Boats are complimentary, The public is encouraged to bring their own supplies to decorate, along with lawn chairs and blankets. Masks are encouraged until you find your place to sit and watch.

Call the CCRC Office at 620-665-5555 to get a lantern kit early and decorate at home. Then bring it that night with the list of names you are honoring and staff will slip the lantern on the boat and read the names of those being honored and remembered.

Local music group, The Typsy Gypsies (Morgan Wilk, Cassie McDonald, Dayton Hodson & Tom Faulkner), will be providing music for the evening. The Pointe School of Dance, Glenda Boor and students, will be performing throughout the evening also. Boats will sail about 8:00 p.m.

“We are so excited for Starlight Remembrance,” said CCRC Executive Director Sandy Woodson. “It’s a beautiful way to remember those who are fighting cancer, have fought cancer, or remember those who have lost their fight to cancer. I hope you’ll join us to watch the lantern boats sail down Cow Creek Sunday evening, October 10th.”
