
SALINA, Kan. — Buhler used a strong relay performance and several top-five individual finishes Friday to place fourth at the Salina Swimming Invitational hosted by Salina Central.
Campus won the team title with 339 points, followed by McPherson with 328, Hays with 301 and Buhler with 243.
Buhler opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as Hannah Swain, Regan Walle, Avery Schrader and Reyne Kaufman finished in 2 minutes, 10.67 seconds.
Swain added Buhler’s top individual finish, placing second in the 200 freestyle in 2:17.55. Tech also had a strong distance race, taking fifth in the 500 freestyle in 6:57.54.
Buhler was second in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Kaufman, Swain, Harper Kendrick and Schrader finished the 200 freestyle relay in 1:56.08, while Walle, Swain, Schrader and Kaufman finished the 400 freestyle relay in 4:17.98.
Schrader added a fifth-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 1:05.95. Walle was seventh in the 200 individual medley in 2:57.29, while Tech followed in eighth at 2:59.61. Kaufman placed eighth in the 100 butterfly in 1:29.00, and Cora Nuttman was 11th in the 100 backstroke in 1:35.41.
McPherson finished second as a team, led by Adyson Wiens, who was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.58 and second in the 50 freestyle in 26.93. McPherson’s Roxy Riedel added a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:21.27.
