Milton Buford “Bud” Moore, Jr., 77, of Medicine Lodge, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Kansas Medical Center, Andover.
He was born on May 22, 1944 in Derby, the son of Milton Buford Moore, Sr., of Derby, and the late Mary (Wooley) Moore. On September 4, 1976, he married Diana (Bailey) Moore. She survives.
Bud was passionate about four things; faith, family, education, and adventure. He spent four years in the United States Navy followed up with college at Wichita State University where he played and then later coached football. After graduation, he taught and coached football in Rose Hill. In 1984, he became the Principal at Medicine Lodge High School and served in that role for 18 years. He then began a career in Special Education with the South Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative until his retirement in 2013. Even after retirement he served on the Medicine Lodge School Board until his passing. Bud never met a stranger. While he enjoyed many rounds of golf, his absolute favorite past-time later in life was spending time with his grandchildren, Collin and Mason.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Diana Moore of Medicine Lodge, KS are his father, Milton (Eugenia) Moore, Sr. of Derby; two sons, Nick (Tiffany) Moore of Andover, and Matt Moore and fiancée Aimee of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Collin and Mason Moore; two sisters, Colleen Irvin of Hico, TX and Beckie (Mike) Hall of Austin, TX.
Bud was preceded in death by his mother, one brother, Steve Moore and one brother-in-law, Neal Irvin.
Friends may sign the register book on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, 67104.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. The family has asked that dress be casual for the service and that favorite school (high school or college) colors be worn in honor of Bud’s dedication to education.
