Mary Catherine ‘Aunt Mary’ Johnson, 75, died October 2, 2020, at Hospice House. She was born May 3, 1945, in Lyons, to Maple and Lillie (Lewis) Taylor.
Mary graduated from Chase High School in 1963 and Jackson Commercial College, Jackson, MS. She worked as a legal secretary for Gilliland & Hayes LLC until her retirement. Mary then worked part-time for International Homes and Hutchinson Recreation Commission. She was of the Southern Baptist faith, a member of American Legion Women's Auxiliary Unit #68 and was very active in Chase High School Alumni Association.
On October 1, 1968, Mary married Albert ‘Al’ Johnson, in Guymon, OK. He died July 29, 2005.
She is survived by sister, Margaret Doll, Eureka; brother, Jim Taylor (Colleen), Dumas, TX; niece, Catherine Coon (Danny), Eureka; nephew, Fred Messick (Debbie), Valley Center; stepdaughter, Peggy Medders (Curtis), Rio Vista, CA; four step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and numerous extended family members.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Helen Link; brothers, Bill, Maple, and Jack Taylor; niece, Jackie Pryce; nephew, Bo Messick; stepdaughter, Sherry Johnson; and stepson, Richard Johnson.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, with family present from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
