
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Four Hutchinson firefighters along with Brush 71 are at the Black Hills Fire in southern Colorado. They arrived Sunday.
The Black Hills Fire was estimated at 2,000 acres over the weekend.
In 2021, Twelve Hutchinson Fire Fighters along with 1 Kansas Forest Employee worked 72 days of that wildfire season.
All use of Hutchinson firefighters and equipment is reimbursed by the federal government and that money is put into equipment upgrades to fight wildfires here in Kansas.
The four currently deployed are Matt Young, Brent Fisher, Justin Williams and Michael Sooter.
