David Allen Starns, 57, of Lyons, Kansas, passed away February 3, 2022 at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas. He was born November 30, 1964, in Newton, Kansas, the son of Galen Lee and LaVeta A. Wagoner Starns. David was a lifelong Lyons resident. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1983, and later received a certificate in diesel mechanics from Salina Area Technical College in 1986. David was a mechanic for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, and the Men’s Golf Association at the Lyons Municipal Golf Course. David was an avid sportsman, golfer, fisherman, and hunter. He enjoyed boating at the lake, cussing, watching Oklahoma University Football, and most of all spending time with family and friends. David is survived by his mother, LaVeta Starns of Lyons; three sons, Kaleb Starns and wife Katie of Tulsa, OK, Wyatt Starns of Cheney, KS, and Justin Lockhart of Salina, KS; two brothers, Randy Starns and wife Lorene of McKinney, TX, and Brian Starns of Lyons; two sisters, Melissa Clarke and husband Chris of Lyons, and Loretta Starns and Pam Turner of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren, Asher and Teagan Starns; nieces and nephews, Michael, Christy, Eric, Scott, Dillon, Ryan, Carly, Jared, Haley, McKenzie, Kregg, Kole, and Kassidy; and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church, Lyons with Pastor Kim Shank officiating. Burial will follow at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 P.M., Monday, February 7, 2022 at Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to Wyatt Starns (for his college education fund) in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
