HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hibbett Sports will close its store inside the Uptown Hutch mall on Saturday, June 14, a store employee confirmed to Hutch Post.

The Hutchinson location is part of a national chain of sporting goods retailers based in Birmingham, Alabama. Hibbett Sports is a wholly owned subsidiary of JD Sports and specializes in athletic equipment, footwear and apparel.

As of February 2024, the company operated 1,169 stores across 36 states, including 960 Hibbett Sports locations, 193 City Gear stores and 16 Sports Additions shoe stores. Hibbett primarily serves small to mid-sized markets in the Southeast, Southwest and lower Midwest. The highest concentration of stores is in Georgia, Texas and Alabama.

"We do not have a comment at this time," Crystal Vinduska, general manager of Uptown Hutch Mall said.

Hutch Post is working to gather more details about the closure.
