
WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State announced their latest 2024 Pizza Hut Hall of Fame class of inductees on Monday, and the class includes former Buhler standout golfer Taryn Torgerson.
She golfed for the Wichita State women's golf program from 2014 to 2018 and was the 2018 individual champion in the American Athletic Conference, was the 2016 individual champion in the Missouri Valley Conference and led the team to a 2016 MVC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
Torgerson finished her Wichita State career first in tournament titles (6), first in lowest career stroke average (75.55), first in lowest single season stroke average (73.26) and first in lowest 54-hole stroke average (226.64).
Her father Brendan is the boys and girls golf coach at Buhler and coached Taryn during her career at Buhler High School.
A dinner for the inductees is set for 6 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Beggs Ballroom on the Wichita State campus, while the induction ceremony is scheduled for halftime of Wichita State's Jan. 28 (2 p.m.) men's basketball game against SMU.
Cost for the dinner is $50 per person, and paid reservations can be made online at goshockers.com or by calling the Shocker Ticket Office at 316/978-FANS or in person at the WSU Ticket Office located on the south side of Charles Koch Arena.
The addition of this year's class brings the total of former coaches and student-athletes in the Hall of Fame to 160, while there are 13 at-large selections.
