Heading into Wednesday’s doubleheader at Fun Valley, the Dragons were tied atop the Jayhawk Conference with an identical 13-1 record.
In Game 1, the Dragons got on the board in the first inning with an unearned run off an RBI single to short by freshman Gabby Stauffer, allowing sophomore Bailey Backhaus to score.
With a 1-0 lead in the third, the Dragons put up five more runs with doubles by Stauffer and Kaibryn Kruger. They added another run in the fourth on an RBI single by Tailor Golly.
Morgan Tomlinson went 6 2/3 innings for the win, improving to 11-2 on the season.
In Game 2, the Dragons struck early, scoring one in the bottom of the first on a fielder's choice by Stauffer.
Barton tied the game and took the lead with single runs in the second and fourth innings.
The Blue Dragons tied it in the fifth with an RBI single by Backhaus, then reclaimed the lead on a two-run homer by Kruger to left field, scoring Backhaus.
Freshman Aubree Thomas went four innings, allowing two runs for the win. She improved to 8-2 on the season.
