
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department had its busiest day in a long time last Wednesday thanks to the gusty wind.
The firefighters responded to 88 calls for the day Wednesday. Forty-eight of those were between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Those calls included four grass fires, 48 lines down three structure checks, three electrical issues, three fire alarms and two smoke scares.
As a contrast, over the four days following that, the department had 76 total calls.
