HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Anthony Gorges has been named the new radio voice of Hutchinson High School athletics.
Gorges will provide play-by-play coverage of Salthawk football and boys and girls basketball games on the school’s flagship station, 1450 AM and 98.5 FM KWBW.
He takes over for Glen Grunwald, who retired following the 2025-26 school year. Gorges joins a short list of broadcasters who have called Salthawk games on the radio through the years, including Grunwald, Rusty Hilst, Jerry Kershaw, Bob Watson and Gary Bender.
“I am honored and excited for the opportunity to broadcast the Hutchinson Salthawks,” Gorges said. “I know Hutchinson High School has a great history of success, and I look forward to broadcasting the Salthawks on the radio this year.”
"I first met Anthony at the NBC World Series while I was covering the Monarchs and he was working summers for a Wichita Station. I knew he was a young talent to watch. I continued to see him progress while a student at K-State. His talent continued to grow as I assisted the KAB judging student awards. I was excited when he joined Eagle in Junction City." Grunwald went on to say "We included him in both the 2025 and 2026 Shrine Bowl as a side-line reporter. Fans might have heard him call games in this season's NJCAA Tournament. He will be a great addition to our sports staff."
Gorges comes to Hutchinson after spending the past three years with Eagle Radio in Manhattan and Junction City, where he served as the voice of the Junction City Blue Jays.

Gorges has broadcast sporting events since 2018, including local high school games and Kansas State contests for student radio. His assignments included the Wildcats’ appearance in the 2022 Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, Texas.
“I am extremely passionate about sports and love my job as a play-by-play broadcaster,” Gorges said. “I have been broadcasting sports games since 2018. I can’t wait for Friday night lights and this entire sports season. Go Salthawks!”
A Garden Plain High School graduate, Gorges earned degrees from Butler Community College and Kansas State University.
Gorges and his wife, Maya, were married in April and are moving to Hutchinson after living in Manhattan for six years. In addition to his broadcasting duties, Gorges will work with area businesses as a marketing consultant.
