Duwayne Cleveland “Ayne” Wells, 81, died December 18, 2021, at his home. He was born May 23, 1940, in Farmington, MO, to Grover C. and Annetta L. (Harper) Wells.
Duwayne attended Hutchinson High School. He served in the United States Army from 1962-1964.
Duwayne worked at Cessna Fluid Power and then as a warehouseman at Dillons warehouse from 1967-2002, until retirement. He had a love for cars from his time in the Radicals Car Club, going drag racing with his buddies, and watching car auctions on TV. Duwayne also enjoyed time allowed at casinos, and making people guess how much he won. He was always willing to lend a hand, provide advice and support in any way he could.
On December 6, 1964, Duwayne married Mary Rose Stout, in South Hutchinson. She survives.
Also surviving are: sons, Dwight Wells of Wichita, Dwayne Wells (Kim) of Georgetown, TX, Damond Wells (Tanya) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Courtney Harris (Joe), Brock Wells (fiancé, Erica Von Boening), Brayden, Colton, Darbie, and Kinley Wells, Dalton Rodriguez (Brittni); great-grandson, Liam Rodriguez; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Joyce Teague; and stepmother, Susan (Fowler) Wells.
A celebration of Duwayne's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, in Elliott Chapel. Military honors will be conducted by Kansas Army National Guard Honor Guard. Friends may sign his memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
