WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State guard Kenyon Giles plans to return for a fifth season with the Shockers after a federal court ruling opened the door for additional eligibility.
Giles, Wichita State’s leading scorer last season, averaged 19.1 points while starting all 36 games. He scored 689 points and set a program record with 125 3-pointers, shooting 37.8% from beyond the arc. Wichita State finished 24-12, reached the American Conference tournament championship game and advanced to the third round of the NIT.
Giles had previously exhausted his eligibility after playing four consecutive seasons beginning in 2022-23. However, a July 31 preliminary injunction issued by U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney temporarily prevents the NCAA from denying a fifth season to qualifying athletes who began their careers that year.
The NCAA has appealed the ruling, meaning Giles’ eligibility for the entire 2026-27 season is not yet guaranteed.
