RENO COUNTY — At 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Hutchinson Fire Department was sent to 6820 North Tobacco Road. When they got there, they found a single story structure with heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof.

Firefighters searched, but found no one home, and looked for extension of fire to the attic. Because of the rural setting, they had to call in partners to bring extra water. Several dogs were inside the residence and two of three dogs found died.

The Hutchinson Fire Marshal is still searching for a cause.

Hutch Fire would like to thank Hutchinson/Reno County Emergency Communications, Evergy, Kansas Gas, the Reno County Sheriff's Office, Buhler Fire, Fire District 3, Fire District 8 and Hutchinson Animal Control for their help with this incident.
