HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A section of 11th Street in Hutchinson has been closed following a storm pipe failure that caused significant damage beneath the roadway.

According to the City of Hutchinson, 11th Street is closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic between K-61 and Lorraine Street. Officials said the pipe failure led to a washout under the street, creating unsafe driving conditions.

City crews are currently on site assessing the extent of the damage and determining what repairs will be required. No timeline has been announced for when the roadway will reopen.
