🏀 Coffeyville overcomes halftime deficit to beat Hutch

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team dropped its second straight game, falling to Coffeyville, 81-77 on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.

Hutchinson (6-5, 2-3 KJCCC) and Coffeyville (8-2, 4-0) both struggled shooting from the floor in the first half, as both teams shot below 40%. The Blue Dragons did knock down 10 of 13 free throw attempts to lead 30-26 at halftime.

The Blue Dragons and Red Ravens traded shot for shot in the second half, as Coffeyville grabbed its first lead of the game at 15:38 mark, this coming after Hutchinson built a 13-point lead in the first half.

Coffeyville knocked down the big free throws in the second half when it mattered, going nine for 12 at the stripe, while Hutchinson went to the line just four times in the final 20 minutes, converting on all four.

Hutchinson hit nine 3-pointers in the second half, part of the four ties and 11 lead changes down the stretch.

Bobby Cannon finished with 18 points to lead the Blue Dragons in scoring, while Khalil Arnold had 17. 

Brian Griffith finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Coffeyville, his first career double-double.

The Blue Dragons are off until Wednesday, Dec. 11 when Garden City visits the Sports Arena for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
