HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Alzheimer's Association held a sign up event in Hutchinson Thursday to kick off the fundraising for this October's Walk to End Alzheimer's.
"Our office serves 69 counties in Kansas," walk organizer Stephanie Hartung said. "We have seven walks here in Kansas, Hutchinson being one of them. The funds raised by that walk help us ensure that we can educate and train more individuals, volunteers, we have wonderful volunteers that help us lead those support groups."
Hartung was at Hollie's Sweet Treats to answer questions from the public about the association and its efforts.
"Typically, for Hutchinson in the past we've had a little over 100 participants," Hartung said. "We are back in person, so it will look a lot like it did in 2019."
Forty-four participants were registered after the Thursday event, with 25 teams. The event is at Gowans Stadium at 9 a.m. Saturday, October 9th.
