Off to one of its best starts in the past seven seasons, the Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team is finally ranked in the NJCAA national rankings.

The Blue Dragons were ranked No. 20 this week in the NJCAA Division I Women's Soccer national rankings, release on Monday. This is the program's first national ranking since Oct. 17, 2017. At that time, the Blue Dragons were ranked No. 18, the last season the Blue Dragons started 6-0 was also in 2017.

The national ranking comes following back-to-back shutout wins over Garden City and Neosho County last week. The Dragons defeated Garden City 5-0, with four goals coming in the second half, and Neosho County 2-0, both goals in the second half.

The Blue Dragons are now 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Jayhawk West.

The Blue Dragons join Butler, Cowley, Barton, and Coffeyville as Jayhawk Conference teams ranked in the Top 20 – Coffeyville ranked No. 17, No. Barton at No. 13, Cowley at No. 12 and Butler at No. 6. Western Wyoming, a team the Blue Dragons defeated 1-0 in the home opener on September. 4, was receiving votes this week.

Eastern Florida State reigns as the No. 1 team in the nation with all eight first-place votes. Tyler Junior College is ranked second and Seminole State College) is at No. 3. All three teams in the rankings remain undefeated.

The Blue Dragons have two games this week, both conference games. Hutchinson plays host to Dodge City at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Salthawk Sports Complex. The Blue Dragons travel to Johnson County for a 5 p.m. kickoff on Saturday in Overland Park.
