SWAT team assists in drug arrest

HUTCHINSON, Kan. —  In the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 30, 2024, members of the Reno County SWAT team assisted with the execution of a drug related search warrant at 315 ½ N. Cleveland St. Hutchinson, KS. This investigation was led by the Reno County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit.

As a result of the search, 115 grams of K2 was located inside of the residence. 52-year-old Ky Sayapheth who lives at the address of the search, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Distribution of Marijuana or Analog thereof, Drug Paraphernalia with intent to distribute, Possession of methamphetamine, Interference with Law Enforcement, Unlawful acts involving proceeds derived from Drug Transactions and Drug Paraphernalia with intent to use.

The second occupant of the residence, Andrew Avena, age 37, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, Probation Violation, Distribution of Marijuana or Analog thereof, Drug Paraphernalia with intent to distribute, Possession of methamphetamine, Interference with Law Enforcement, and Drug Paraphernalia with intent to use.

The Hutchinson Police Department, South Hutchinson Police Department, Harvey County Sheriff’s Office and Hutchinson Fire Department assisted with the case and the warrant service
