For the second time this week, Hutchinson Community College men’s cross country sophomore Titus Kiprotich earned a runner of the week award for his performance at the Missouri Southern Stampede last Saturday.
Kiprotich was named the KJCCC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on Tuesday after breaking Hutchinson men’s cross country’s 8K record at the Stampede. The sophomore from Iten, Kenya, on Monday, was named the USTFCCCA/NJCAA Division I National Men’s Runner of the Week.
Kiprotich finished second at the MSSU Stampede with a time of 23:30.40.
The Blue Dragon All-American broke his own team record, which he set in a ninth-place finish at the 2024 NJCAA National championships. It’s the third time in his career, Kiprotich has owned Hutchinson’s 8K cross country record.
Dating back to last year, this is the fourth-straight 8K race that the Blue Dragon men’s record has fallen – held either by Kiprotich or teammate Dennis Cheruiyot.
Kiprotich is the second Blue Dragon to win conference men’s runner of the week honors. Cornelius Kogo was named the league’s top runner in Week 2 after a victory in the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic.
