Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the northeast corner of North Main Street and Sherman Avenue.
Since 1871, Sherman and Main has been ground zero for Hutchinson and its business district. Trying to list all the businesses that have been on this corner would be tedious.
For now, we will start in 1956, where the Toy Center was owned by Vinnita Gilliland at 6 N. Main and Spangler's Photo Supply at 4 N. Main in 1947 was owned by Cyrus & Guy Spangler. The first photo was taken in 1963, right before the entire quarter of the block was razed in 1964 to make room for the new Woolworth's Department Store.

The second photo is of that building in 1973.

Woolworth's remained on that corner until 1980.
In 1984, The Anthony's Clothing Store moved here from their old 22 N. Main address. The third photo is of that occupancy.

They were there from 1984 to 1997.
After the 2001 gas explosions that destroyed Woody's Furniture, the Hayes family purchased the 2 N. Main building and eventually turned it into Hayes Home Furnishings. The fourth photo shows that occupancy in 2012.

After that time frame, Alice-Jane Hayes turned the building into the Main Street Events Center. The fifth photo shows that in 2018.

It was during that ownership that Bob and Ann Bush donated the lion's head painting reproduction for downtown art display. The sixth photo shows the 2-10 N. Main building today, now owned by BF Island Investments L.L.C.
