HUTCHINSON, Kan.  — The Hutchinson Monarchs erupted for 16 runs on Saturday night at Hobart-Detter Field, run-ruling the Kingman Islanders 16-6 in seven innings to continue their dominance in the Sunflower Collegiate League.

Trailing 6-3 after a six-run third inning from Kingman, the Monarchs responded with relentless offense, scoring 13 unanswered runs over the final five frames. Tyson Vassart powered the comeback with two home runs and seven RBIs, including a three-run blast in the sixth that pushed Hutchinson’s lead to six.

Starter Cole Toureau went four innings for Hutchinson, battling through early trouble to earn the win. He struck out five while allowing six runs — four earned — before giving way to Whit Rhodes, who shut down the Islanders over the final three innings.

Hutchinson took an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, capitalizing on a hit batter, two walks, and a sacrifice fly. After Kingman surged ahead in the third, highlighted by a two-run single from Caiden Beavers and an RBI double by Landon Parks, but then Hutchinson chipped away.

Joey Senstock’s two-run homer in the third pulled the Monarchs within one, and Vassart’s two-run shot in the fifth reclaimed the lead at 7-6. From there, the Monarchs never looked back, sending 10 batters to the plate in a five-run sixth inning that broke the game open.

Hutchinson added three more in the seventh to enforce the run rule, capped by a wild pitch that allowed Jeter Worthley to score the 16th and final run.

The Monarchs (18-5) continue their homestand Sunday night at Hobart-Detter Field versus the Haysville Aviators.
