
Edna Lee Withiam, 85, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021 at Schowalter Villa. She was born Jan. 17, 1936 in Winfield, Kansas, the daughter of Darrel and Hazel (Groom) Wamsley.
Edna was a devoted homemaker. She was described as a really good cook and she enjoyed gardening with flowers to attract birds to their yard.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Oakley and the Royal Neighbors fraternal organization.
She was united in marriage to Stanley “Kye” Withiam on Feb. 23, 1954 in Rock, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2016.
Kye’s work took them to various communities where they made lasting friendships. Edna became involved in quilting groups, sharing in bible study, leading 4-H cooking classes and EHU ladies throughout these communities.
Edna is survived by her children, David (Donna) Withiam of Newton, Diana (Jim) Schmidt of Goessel, and Bill Withiam (fiancé, Daphne Bliss) of North Newton; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Darrel Wamsley and Hazel Wamsley Felker; step-father, Carrol Felker; and a grandson, Nathan Fast.
Private services will be held at Valley View Cemetery, rural Roxbury. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 19, at Miller-Ott Funeral Home, Hesston.
