A Wichita man is in custody after a robbery Sunday morning at Newton Walgreens.
Newton Police were dispatched to Walgreens, 1300 N. Main, at about 11:15 a.m. on a report of an armed robbery. The suspect reportedly indicated he had a firearm, obtained cash from the store and fled south.
Responding officers located a man acting suspiciously several blocks away and found clothing and other evidence from the robbery in an alley nearby.
The man, Joshua Ewing, 37, was arrested and booked into the Harvey County Detention Center. Ewing had been released from the Detention Center earlier the same day.
No weapon was found. The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office and North Newton Police assisted in the response. The investigation is ongoing.
