HUTCHINSON, Kan. —There‘s a local group called Hutchinson Street Cat Society. Their mission is to help recognize and deal with the feral cat population in the area.

Over the weekend, the group teamed up with the Hutchinson Animal Shelter and the K-State Mobile Surgery Unit, to have a "Kitty Catch Up" TNR Day. Forty-two cats were checked in for their spays and neuters. Two were microchipped, and those were reunited with their families. Due to the event, hundreds upon hundreds of unwanted kittens will now never be born.

If you see a cat with the tip of the left ear removed, please know that it has been spayed or neutered, and has a caretaker.

The group also wanted to thank Cause For Paws Inc., for their donation of additional humane traps to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter.
