Doris O’Neal, 82, passed away August 12, 2022, at her home.  She was born June 22, 1940, in Dodge City, to Cecil David and Marceil Marie (Schoen) Howey.

Doris was a 1958 graduate of Hutchinson High School, and received an associate degree from Hutchinson Community College in 1961.  She was a secretary at Colladay Hardware, Hutchinson, and also Manpower Temporary Service, Hutchinson.  Doris was an active member of Crossroads Christian Church, especially providing volunteer help in the children’s programs and activities, and serving as a Sunday school teacher.  She enjoyed sewing, crafting, and gardening.  Doris was involved in many activities, but her most important activity was being a homemaker.  She loved her family and cherished her role of being a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. 

On August 5, 1962, Doris married James ‘Jim’ A. O’Neal, at the South Hutchinson Christian Church, South Hutchinson.  They shared over 60 years of marriage.

She is survived by: her husband, Jim O’Neal of Hutchinson; children, David (Tammy) O’Neal of Milwaukee, WI, and Pamela (Daniel) Lindgren of Woodbridge, VA; and grandchildren, Mackenzie O’Neal, Connor O’Neal, Hunter O’Neal, Emily Lindgren, Erik Lindgren, and Elise Lindgren.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Raymond Howey.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Kevin Guffey officiating.  Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary.
