Update: Kan. toddler remains in protective custody after found walking alone

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating parents following the report of a child walking alone Saturday in Topeka.

Just after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the Likins Foster neighborhood after a young child was found walking alone, according to Topeka Police spokesperson Gretchen Spiker.

By mid afternoon, police located the parents. The child remains in Police Protective Custody, according to Spiker.   Police released no additional details.
