
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson is no longer going to issue burn permits on the weekends starting next month.
According to a release from the Hutchinson Fire Department, beginning April 1, burn permits will only be available from the Community Risk Division between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Anyone wishing to burn must call ahead to obtain a burn permit if it will happen on the weekend.
The phone number to request a permit is (620) 694-2871. All weekend phone calls will be returned the following week.
Open burning is already banned during Red Flag Warning days.
All outdoor burning, except that which is contained in an outdoor fireplace, grill, chiminea or fire pit no bigger than 3x2 requires a burn permit.
