Rachel Celeste (Yoder) Bontrager passed away on December 3, 2020, at Mennonite Friendship Manor, 600 W Blanchard RD, South Hutchinson, KS.

She was born September 30, 1922, to Jacob E. and Anna Miller Yoder. She was the youngest of eight children. Rachel was a lifetime resident of the Yoder/Hutchinson area.

She belonged to Yoder Mennonite Church and was a member of the Women's Sewing Circle, both at Yoder. Rachel was a homemaker most of her life but also cleaned homes for others in Hutchinson and was the head cook at Elreka Grade School, southwest of Hutchinson.

On June 21, 1941, she married Morris C. Bontrager. They were married for 68 years. He died December 5, 2009.

Survivors include: five children Chlo Ann Helmuth (Merlyn), Denver, CO, Elli Franz (Dale), Olathe, Jane Balzer (Loren), Buhler, Gene Bontrager (Jody), Arlington, Jay Bontrager (Kimberly), Pretty Prairie; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris; a son, Galen; her parents; three brothers, Toby, Eddie, and Mosie Yoder; four sisters, Polly Bontrager, Suzie Schrock, Lizzie Troyer, and Sarah Yoder.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, December 7, 2020 at Ott Funeral Home, Haven. Family will not be present. Private interment will be held at Yoder Mennonite Church Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be next summer. The family requests NO FLOWERS.
