Patricia Ann “Pat” Mooney, 88, died peacefully January 6, 2022, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson. She was born August 26, 1933, in Atchinson, to Walter J. and Ruth A. (Meers) Barry.
Pat graduated from Mount St. Scholastica Academy, Atchinson, in 1951, and was a homemaker. She was a member of PEO Chapter CM, and volunteered for the follies. Pat previously served as president of the St. Elizabeth Auxiliary, chairwoman for Cancer Council of Reno County, and served on the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center hospital board. She was a member of Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson, and served on their altar society.
On July 4, 1953, she married Michael J. “Mike” Mooney, Jr., in Aberdeen, MD.
Pat is survived by: her husband of almost 69 years, Mike Mooney, Jr., of Hutchinson; children, Mike Mooney III, of Phoenix, AZ, Maureen Mooney of Hutchinson, and Kathleen Ansley (Darel) of Wenatchee, WA; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Mark J. Mooney; brother, Michael J. Barry; and infant sister, Ruth A. Barry.
Parish Rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Church of the Holy Cross, 26th and Plum, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the church, with Father Aaron Spexarth officiating both the Parish Rosary and Mass. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
