
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The May unemployment rate in Reno County is up a half a percent from the previous month.
According to the figures released from the Kansas Department of Labor the jobless rate increased from 2.1% to 2.6%. In 2021 the May jobless rate was 3.1%.
There were 779 Reno County residents looking for work in May compared with 613 in April. The unemployment rate in the city of Hutchinson is also up, from 2.3% to 2.8%, with 519 people looking for work.
The state's unemployment rate was down to a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 2.3% in May. This was a decrease from 2.4% in April and a decrease from 3.4% in May 2021.
