HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Shortly after 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, Hutchinson Fire Department crews responded to a structure fire in the 800 block of Cole Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from a small residential structure. Crews quickly entered the home and discovered the source of the fire in the attic. The blaze was extinguished after firefighters found and addressed multiple hidden void spaces in the attic where the fire had spread.
Fortunately, the two occupants of the home were outside the residence when crews arrived. No injuries were reported, and thanks to a swift response, the fire was contained to the attic. However, the interior living space did suffer smoke damage.
