Dennis Lee Byard, 73, passed away June 27, 2022, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. He was born April 29, 1949, in Lyons, to Howard Stanley and Dorothy Lee (Poland) Byard.
Dennis was a graduate of Lyons High School, Lyons, KS. He served in the United States Navy from June 1968 to March 1972. After his military service, Dennis attended and graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson, KS. He was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, retiring with over 30 years of service.
On August 7, 1976, Dennis married Vickie J. Johannsen, in Sterling, KS. They shared over 45 years of marriage.
He is survived by: wife, Vickie J. Byard of Hutchinson; children, Christopher (Nikkee) Byard, Maegan (Matthew Morales) Byard, and Matthew (Christina) Byard, all of Hutchinson; sister, Sherry (John Ruperight) Myers of Salina, KS; and grandchildren, Avery, Korree, Tanner, Jace, Noah, Emily, Maylee, and Ada.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July, 1, 2022, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Dr. Kim Biery, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2022, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
