HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Feeling fatigued following spring forward on Sunday? Don't let it cause an accident.
The darker morning commute that we'll see starting Sunday and into Monday means you should be aware, especially around schools," said Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas. "In the darker drives, you may not see a school kid walking and that could cause a dangerous situation."
The change also puts the sun in a different place in the sky in the afternoon, as well.
"You may be having bright sun in your eyes on your way home from work," Steward said. "It's an awareness thing. Prioritize sleep. Try to get a little bit of extra sleep over the next few days. Travel at times of the day when you are normally awake if possible. Look at things that you take that may cause drowsiness or other impairment."
Slow down and stay alert and if it is darker than usual, be sure to use your headlights and if your vehicle has daytime running lights, be sure those are activated, as well.
