The Blue Dragon Athletic Department has announced its home football game themes for the 2025 season.
Four home games will be played at Gowans Stadium this season, including the home opener this Saturday, Sept. 13.
Noon Saturday, Sept. 13 vs. Iowa Western – Blue Dragon Champions Day
- Recognition of Blue Dragon spring sports and their accomplishments including softball winning back-to-back KJCCC regular season titles, men's and women's track and field hosting the national meet and several team and individual honors and more.
1pm Saturday, Oct. 18 vs. Indy – Homecoming
- Blue Dragon Football Alumni Recognition and Homecoming week for Hutchinson Community College.
7pm Saturday, Oct. 25 vs. Coffeyville – Football and a Movie at Gowans
- Join Blue Dragon football for a night football game followed by a movie to cap off the night on the videoboard.
Noon Saturday, Nov. 22 vs. Garden City – Military & First Responders Appreciation
- Blue Dragon football recognizes military and first responders for their work and sacrifice.
The Blue Dragons are coming off their second national championship in football after defeating Iowa Western in the NJCAA Division I Football Championship in December 2024 at West Texas A&M University's Buffalo Stadium in Canyon, Texas.
The two teams will once again face off in Hutchinson's home opener at noon Saturday, September 13 at Gowans Stadium. Blue Dragon Athletics will recognize the Spring 2025 semester team champions and more for Blue Dragon Champions Day.Homecoming week will headline the second home game as the homecoming game will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 18 against the Independence Pirates. It will also be Blue Dragon Football Recognition for football alumni.
The third home game of the season will be the second game of back-to-backs in the Blue Dragons' home stretch as Hutchinson hosts Coffeyville in a primetime 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, October 25. The theme for the night game is "Football and a Movie at Gowans." Stick around after the game for a late-night movie on the DragonVision Videoboard.
Wrapping out the 2025 regular season home slate is Military and First Responders Appreciation. Military and first responders will receive free admission into the regular season home finale against Garden City at noon, Saturday, Nov. 22.
