
HARVEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing in Newton and have a suspect in custody.
Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, a police officer witnessed a vehicle driving erratically in the 2000 block of West First Street in Newton, according to a media release.
The officer stopped the vehicle, and the 16-year-old male driver immediately reported he had just been involved in a fight and had stabbed someone. Police found a bloody knife in the vehicle.
Police located a victim identified as 27-year-old Ian Foy in the 100 block of Evans Street with life-threatening injuries. EMS transported Ian Foy to a Wichita hospital, where he later died.
Police arrested the juvenile on a requested charge of second-degree murder.
Investigators are working to determine the relationship between the victim, the suspect and other factors contributing to the stabbing. Police did release the name of the juvenile suspect.
