RENO COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Reno County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 driven by 74-year-old Maurice L. Doonan of Kingman was eastbound on U.S. Highway 50 and a 2003 Freightliner semi driven by 72-year-old Enruque Orrantia Anaya of El Paso, TX., was westbound three miles west of Burrton.
When the vehicles met, they sideswiped each other.
After the collision, the Dodge rotated around and came to rest on the north shoulder facing west.
The semi crossed the center line, the eastbound lane, entered the south ditch, struck the fencing and came to rest in a farm field on the south side of U.S. Highway 50.
EMS transported Doonan to a Wichita hospital. Orrantia Anaya was not injured. Doonan was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
