
GARDEN CITY, Kan. — Hailey Jackson scored a career-high 32 points and Hutchinson Community College got back on the winning track with a 66-53 win over Garden City on Thursday night at Conestoga Arena.
The Blue Dragons are now 22-2 overall, 16-2 in Jayhawk Conference play. Hutch moves back into a tie for first place with Dodge City with six games remaining.
Hutchinson led 17-10 after the first quarter, 27-23 at halftime and 48-33 after three quarters.
Jackson also brought down a team-high eight rebounds in the win. She was the only Blue Dragon to score in double figures. Madi Denison scored five points, while bringing down a team-high eight boards and dishing off two assists.
The Blue Dragons knocked down 57% of their shots, going 23 of 40. The two areas where Hutch struggled the most were from behind the arc (3 of 10) and at the foul line (17 of 32).
Garden City (11-13, 8-11) had three starters score in double figures, led by Ana Ramos Pieres with 15 points and nine rebounds. The Broncbusters shot 38% from the floor.
HutchCC will host Cloud County on Saturday afternoon inside the Sports Arena for a 2 p.m. tipoff. Garden City is off for its final bye of the season on Saturday.
