Gov. directs flags to be lowered to half-staff in honor of Judge Bruce Brown

Governor Laura Kelly has directed flags be lowered to half-staff in honor of Judge Bruce Brown of the 18th Judicial District Division 10.

In accordance with Executive Order #20-30, flags will be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol Complex, as well as on all court buildings and facilities across Kansas. The tribute will continue through sundown on Saturday, August 30, 2025, the day Judge Brown is interred following his funeral services.

“Judge Brown dedicated his career to upholding justice and serving the people of Kansas with integrity,” Governor Kelly said in a statement. “We honor his legacy and extend our deepest sympathies to his family, colleagues, and community.”

Judge Brown served the 18th Judicial District with distinction, remembered by colleagues for his fairness on the bench and his commitment to public service.

Flags will return to full staff beginning Sunday, August 31.
